It seems that the emergent movement in Germany is struggling with the same cultural niche problem as the North American twin brother. It makes me wonder whether that gap between the intention in the theology and the actual people participating in the conversation is due to the articulation of the theology itself (a fairly intellectualized conversation appealing to the crowd you mentioned) or if it simply reflects a failure to connect with the "culturally other" locally.
