It seems that the emergent movement in Germany is struggling with the same cultural niche problem as the North American twin brother. It makes me wonder whether that gap between the intention in the theology and the actual people participating in the conversation is due to the articulation of the theology itself (a fairly intellectualized conversation appealing to the crowd you mentioned) or if it simply reflects a failure to connect with the "culturally other" locally. Maybe it's a little bit of both!Josh M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16074319676997400923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7633879252675287288.post-62652782379238688572010-07-28T21:02:50.908+02:002010-07-28T21:02:50.908+02:00i like your growl, mama bear...;-)i like your growl, mama bear...;-)Jan Fischerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09465765552029843063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7633879252675287288.post-46616496183395136352010-06-21T10:14:34.134+02:002010-06-21T10:14:34.134+02:00Hi David! thanks for stopping by and for the links...Hi David! thanks for stopping by and for the links! <br /><br />Yes, I've seen the story of stuff... great video!!! Following in the foot steps of Marx, Marcuse is not simply worried about economic exploitation. His basic concern is liberation--a liberation he sees receeding ever further into the distance as modern industrial society (both capitalist and communist) buys off almost all potential opponents through increased abundance. He views modern society as a treadmill where workers are kept enslaved to their jobs by the desire to purchase newer and ever more products produced by their labor. Rather than seeking for liberation, workers willingly put up with the indignities of working for their capitalist (and socialist) masters in hopes of greater material, as oppossed to spritual abundance."<br /><br />hope you stop by again, leeLee Fischerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14253058243779007065noreply@blogger.com
